For health plans and providers, the importance of moving to value-based care (VBC) has never been clearer. CMS’s push for increased adoption of value-based care has been a key driver of the industry-wide shift, but it is also clear that VBC offers a more connected and transparent healthcare journey and delivers better outcomes—at a lower overall cost than the traditional fee-for-service model.
Technology plays a pivotal role in successful VBC programming, and provider organizations have embraced technology solutions to streamline their adoption of alternative payment models (APMs). However, VBC success is also largely reliant on collaboration between health plans and providers, and as provider organizations continue their health transformation journey, it is essential for health plans to find new ways to support those efforts.
Chris Lance (Chief Strategy & Product Officer, Edifecs), Donna Sabol (VP & Chief Quality Officer, St. Luke’s University Health Network), and Joseph Kunisch (VP of Quality Programs, Harris Health System) recently sat down for a conversation, hosted by HIMSS and sponsored by Edifecs. In this wide-ranging discussion, Chris, Donna, and Joseph shared their insights into:
- How best to enable data sharing between payers and providers for better collaboration and communication
- The role of analytics and reporting tools in supporting successful VBC programming
- Why AI-enabled tools are gaining popularity among provider organizations
