Edifecs Launches Healthcare Payer Companion Guideline Repository
Bellevue, WA. October 24, 2005 --
Edifecs, Inc., the leading provider of B2B solutions for transaction-based
interoperability, today announced the launch of its HIPAA Payer Companion
Guideline repository. Starting with over 450 companion guides, the repository
is expected to grow to over 1200 guidelines by Q1, 2006.
Currently hundreds of variations of the HIPAA implementation guidelines exist
in the industry. Significant gains towards healthcare interoperability can
be achieved by streamlining and simplifying the HIPAA companion guideline authoring
and implementation process. Edifecs took a big step in that direction when
it provided complimentary testing and certification services on HIPAADesk to
the entire healthcare market. Now Edifecs has taken another important step
by coding these individual guidelines in one common tool and format.
"Edifecs has taken a very comprehensive approach to building these guidelines
and providing support to its clients," said Sunny Singh, CEO of Edifecs(TM). "First,
all the guidelines have been coded into the Edifecs SpecBuilder(TM) guideline
authoring tool, currently used by hundreds of healthcare organizations. With
SpecBuilder emerging as the tool of choice by healthcare organizations for documenting
and testing their business edits, this will allow normalizing of all the companion
guidelines into a common toolset and format. Second, the repository of guidelines
is available to test against on the Edifecs HIPAADesk industry collaboration
portal (www.HIPAADesk.com). Users can go to one common
site to obtain a centralized listing of all the companion guidelines. Third,
Edifecs healthcare provider clients will be able to subscribe to this repository
and use it in conjunction with Edifecs' XEngine(TM) EDI data validation engine
to test their data for compliance against the payer specific guidelines prior
to transmitting the files to the payers, thus reducing errors and enabling revenue
acceleration. With our tools, real interoperability in healthcare administrative
transactions is truly within reach."
Edifecs HIPAADesk is the leading complimentary HIPAA testing service and is
used by thousands of healthcare organizations for testing and certifying their
HIPAA data files. More healthcare organizations test and certify using Edifecs
than any other service in the market. This service was extended to support
NCPDP and HL7 standards earlier in the year. Now Edifecs has again extended
this industry portal with the ability for users to test against the payer companion
guidelines.
Edifecs SpecBuilder is a rich, easy to use and integrated suite of tools for
authoring, publishing, documenting, testing, comparing and migrating companion
guidelines and payer specific business rules and edits. SpecBuilder provides
the ability to compare guidelines and thus identify and review differences
between guidelines.
Edifecs XEngine ensures run-time operational interoperability with trading
partners by validating healthcare and general industry transactions for syntax,
semantics and trading partner specific business rules in production environments.
By having real-time checks and filters on the data entering an enterprise,
organizations are assured that back-end applications and data warehouses contain
accurate transaction data.
