Edifecs to add support for BizTalk
Server XML format to SpecBuilder B2B
specification-authoring tool
June 11, 2001 -- Edifecs, a B2B solutions provider
who delivers products and services
that help businesses rapidly ramp-up
and manage their trading partner networks,
announced today that the next release
of Edifecs SpecBuilder B2B specification-authoring
tool will incorporate support for
Microsoft BizTalk Server 2000 XML
transactions. SpecBuilder's
support for BizTalk Server XML transactions
will enable enterprise customers who
need additional EDI standards to use
them with BizTalk Server 2000.
This strategic relationship addresses
critical needs for companies faced
with integrating diverse data from
new and legacy enterprise applications,
such as databases, customer relationship
management, and supply chain management
applications. Microsoft BizTalk Server
2000, which is XML-based, is a powerful
tool that unites enterprise application
integration (EAI), business-to-business
integration and business process management
technology to allow developers, IT
professionals and business analysts
to integrate these types of applications,
platforms or businesses over the Internet.
The support of Edifecs SpecBuilder,
the most established business document
specification-authoring tool on the
market, builds on BizTalk Server's
existing EDI support and enables companies
who rely on legacy EDI-based industry
standards for their trading partner
networks to integrate their EDI systems
with BizTalk Server 2000. Users of
BizTalk will be able to access Edifecs
deep library of B2B industry standards
and utilize SpecBuilder to convert
them to BizTalk Server-compliant XML
formats, enabling rapid and efficient
integration with BizTalk Server 2000.
Microsoft understands that
EDI is a viable component of many
legacy integration projects between
businesses, which is why BizTalk Server
2000 natively supports many of the
traditional flavors of EDI,
said Scott Callan, product manager
for BizTalk Server 2000 at Microsoft
Corp. Edifecs has a deep understanding
of the EDI market and SpecBuilder
will ensure our customers have the
ability to integrate BizTalk Server
2000 with any additional EDI standards.
Effectively, we are combining
the innovative BizTalk Server 2000
platform with Edifecs expertise
in B2B standards, said Sunny
Singh, CEO of Edifecs. By incorporating
support for BizTalk Server 2000 in
SpecBuilder, our mutual customers
will get the best of both worlds –
access to a powerful B2B integration
platform without having to abandon
their serious investments in legacy
B2B industry standards such as EDI.
This is a win for customers of both
Microsoft and Edifecs.
