and Award-Winning Colleagues Solidify
Edifecs Leadership in E-Business
Process Modeling
BELLEVUE, WA (August 29, 2000) --
Edifecs Commerce, Inc. today announced
that it has recruited a team of industry-leading
e-commerce architects. Each has been
at the forefront of architecting global
business-to-business collaboration;
three have been integrally involved
in the ground-breaking effort to develop
and implement global standard business
processes through the RosettaNet Consortium.
Joining Edifecs are Arthur Greef,
Jim Clark, John Yunker, Tony Weida,
and Gary Ham.
"We are thrilled to have assembled
such synergistic expertise in the
optimization of trading networks and
supply chains," said Sunny Singh,
CEO of Edifecs Commerce. "This
architectural dream team will help
Edifecs take supply chains to new
heights in speed, efficiency and cost-effectiveness."
Arthur Greef, Edifecs Chief Architect
for Business Collaboration Services,
was Chief Architect for the RosettaNet
Consortium, where he created the E-Business
Framework for specifying and executing
business interface processes for the
Information Technology and Electronic
Components supply chains. Previously
at IBM, he was a principal architect
for the IBM Net.Commerce Catalog and
Catalog content management tool and
was granted recognition for submitting
12 patent applications. Greef holds
a PhD in Industrial Engineering from
the University of Stellenbosch, South
Africa and completed two years of
post-doctoral training in Industrial
Engineering at North Carolina State
University.
Jim Clark, Director of Industry Solutions,
Telecommunications Industry, was instrumental
in pioneering Protocol-Neutral Information
Modeling, for which he won a Smithsonian
Award for Influential Technology of
1998. His methodology has been adopted
by the TeleManagement Forum, the UN/EDIFACT
and X12 committees, and ETIS. For
10 years, Clark has served on the
Intelligent Networks steering committee
for the International Engineering
Consortium, and has been Telecommunications
Management Forum Chairperson for the
SMART (Service Management Automation
and Re-engineering Team) Billing Team.
He came to Edifecs from the RosettaNet
Consortium, where he served as resident
expert in Business Collaboration Protocol
Modeling.
John Yunker, Architect, Enterprise
Collaboration Models, is an architecture
evangelist with over 20 years experience
pioneering enterprise solutions. As
Enterprise Architect at Expeditors
International, Yunker developed a
state of the art, global B2B system
allowing the company's worldwide business
units to seamlessly exchange logistics
and other business information with
each other, as well as with customers,
carriers, suppliers and distributors.
He holds a B.S. in Math Sciences from
the University of Washington, with
advanced coursework in object-oriented
development.
Tony Weida, Architect, Business Collaboration
Framework, is an expert in the architecture
of e-business systems as well as knowledge
representation and reasoning for large,
shared ontologies. Weida served as
a system architect in IBM's Software
Division, where he collaborated in
designing and implementing the IBM
Catalog Architect, a content creation
and management tool for IBM Net.Commerce
catalogs. Weida also co-lead the team
that developed IBM's first working
demonstration of a RosettaNet PIP
(Partner Interface Process). He was
granted recognition by IBM for publishing
technical reports and publications
and for submitting numerous patent
applications. Weida holds a MS and
PhD in Computer Science from Columbia
University, and a BA from Queens College.
Gary Ham, Business Collaboration
Architect, is an expert in standardization
and systems interoperability who has
pioneered a leading methodology for
defining "measurable value"
business collaboration requirements
analysis. Ham was previously Senior
Research Scientist at Battelle Memorial
Institute, where he supervised the
development of the Army Standard Reference
Model for object-oriented systems
analysis and design. He developed
his IT expertise during a twenty year
military career, during which he held
many leadership positions, including
Head of Quality Control for a worldwide
networked accounting system and Senior
Lecturer in Computer Science at the
U.S. Naval Academy. Ham received his
MS in Information Systems with Distinction
from Naval Postgraduate School, and
has completed many additional graduate
courses at George Mason University.
