Edifecs Selected by GE Global eXchange Services
to Provide Trading-Partner Enablement
Solution
BELLEVUE, WA (November 07, 2000) --
Edifecs (www.edifecs.com) today announced
that GE Global eXchange Services (GXS)
has licensed the Edifecs CommerceDesk
trading-partner enablement solution.
GXS will be incorporating the capabilities
of Edifecs CommerceDesk into its portfolio
of B2B transaction services.
Edifecs CommerceDesk is designed
to help GXS's customers use the Web
to accomplish tasks required in preparation
for online exchange of business documents.
These tasks include trading partner
registration, posting of program information,
reporting and compliance testing.
The complexity of preparing for online
trading is a significant roadblock
affecting the adoption of supply chain
e-commerce technology, especially
by smaller companies. Removing this
roadblock will make it easier for
smaller companies to join the online
trading partner networks of the large
corporations with which they do business.
"Companies are now realizing
that B2B e-commerce only works if
you can build a community," said
Otto Kumbar, Vice President of Interchange
Solutions at GE Global eXchange Services.
"Our Net Community Manager offering,
built on Edifecs CommerceDesk, is
key to any successful B2B community."
GXS's implementation of Edifecs CommerceDesk
was recently selected as a finalist
for an EC*CO (Electronic Commerce
Community Ovation) Award in Innovative
Supply Chain Management at the Electronic
Commerce World show in Orlando, Florida.
"GXS's licensing of Edifecs
CommerceDesk allows the company to
take advantage of our unique approach
to online trading-partner enablement,"
said Edifecs CEO Sunny Singh. "We're
very proud that a such a global leader
turned to Edifecs to become a key
technology provider to its overall
community-management solution."
