Edifecs provided testimony before the National Committee on Vital and Health
Statistics (NCVHS) on Vendor Readiness for the soon to be mandated National
Provider Identifier (NPI). Topics covered in the testimony included “NPI
Readiness” as applied to different types of HIT vendors, types of COTS
solutions that are available to help providers and health plans meet the NPI
requirements, what providers and health plans are saying about their NPI
readiness and obstacles endangering a smooth transition to NPI usage.

Edifecs moderated a panel discussion on Enabling Interoperability by
representatives from Wellpoint, CAQH/CORE Eligibility Project, X12, and BCBS of
IL at the NPAG Conference in Napa Valley, April 2-5, 2006.
Edifecs presented on transaction accountability and assuring the integrity of
inbound and outbound transactions to technology executives, compliance
officers, senior healthcare and banking management and more at the Medical
Banking Projects Institute in Nashville, Tennessee, February 22-23, 2006.
Edifecs was also represented on a panel discussing Collaborative Open-source
Medical Banking Architecture & Technology (COMBAT).
Edifecs delivered a presentation on the challenges and opportunities
related to transaction accountability for an audience of Blue Cross Blue Shield Executives at Orlando,
Florida for BCBSA Health IT Summit in November 4, 2005.
Edifecs delivered a presentation to Dental EDI managers
and executives on the opportunities and advantages of using transaction based data to provide
valuable business intelligence at Tucson, Arizona for the National Dental EDI Councils
annual conference in May 22, 2005.
Edifecs presented the concepts related to transaction based business
intelligence and transactional data warehousing for a variety of healthcare IT managers and executives at Seattle,
Washington for Washington HIMSS Society meeting in May 20, 2005.
Edifecs delivered a presentation on the opportunities for deriving
business intelligence value from the implementation of HIPAA transaction at Baltimore,
Maryland for 10th Annual HIPAA Summit in April 7, 2005.
Edifecs delivered a presentation to a variety of payer and banking executives
on the opportunities for business intelligence directly from transactional data at Nashville,
Tennessee for Medical Banking Institute in February 24, 2005.
Edifecs presented an education session during HIMSS 2005. The presentation
was well received and great questions were asked by the audience.
Edifecs presented during a conference breakout session.
Edifecs presented during a HIPAA Claims Panel session which consisted
of health plans and clearinghouses. The presentation was well received by
the 150 attendees in the session and included recommendations to move from
HIPAA Certification to Interoperability Assurance.
Edifecs
project managers facilitated and presented in a session at the MMIS conference, "Best
Practices for HIPAA Testing and Validation." There were 5 presentations
during this session including two by Edifecs CommerceDesk customers - New
York Medicaid and Maryland Medicaid.
Edifecs was interviewed by Eli Research for their monthly compliance
alert publication. The subject: "How to Tame the TCS Rule Beast, Hint:
Communication and cooperation go a long way."
Edifecs was pleased to sponsor the HCCO/CCAP audio conference on August 18th,
2004. Edifecs presented with other industry panelists, including a health plan, provider and a vendor.
Edifecs participated in a healthcare
vendor and clearinghouse panel discussion regarding transaction implementation
and compliance.
Edifecs presented a breakout session
on achieving a return on investment from your HIPAA transaction implementation.
Topics included: where is the return on investment for payers and providers,
the barriers to success and the key steps to removing those barriers.
BCBSA published an article about Edifecs
portal solutions for managing and enabling HIPAA trading partner communities
and transactions. These solutions help payers and providers within your community
achieve quicker payback on your HIPAA investment.
