MassachusettsInsurance Provider Will Deploy Edifecs ICD-10 Solution to Increase Productivity and Manage the Code Transition
Bellevue, Wash.— July 2, 2012—Today, Edifecs, Inc., a leading provider of healthcare software solutionsspecializing in regulatory compliance tools for health plans and healthcare organizations, announced that Boston Medical Center (BMC) HealthNet Plan has chosen the company as its strategic technology partner for ICD-10.
The Edifecs ICD-10 solution helps health plans achieve financial neutrality by understanding and mitigating risks at each stage of the ICD-10 transition. This is accomplished by enabling health plans to leverage and analyze their own historic data in order to prioritize remediation and testing efforts.
BMC HealthNet Plan selected the Edifecs ICD-10 solution because of its functionality and offerings built into an all-inclusive solution that supports each phase of an ICD-10 project. “We are pleased that Edifecs will equip our team with a broad set of capabilities including code management and data analytics,” said Michael Schrader, Chief Operating Officer at BMC HealthNet Plan. “The user-friendly interface of the solution will enhance our productivity and mitigate the risks associated with coding medical claims from ICD-9 to ICD-10.”
“We look forward to supporting BMC HealthNet Plan with its transition to the ICD-10 code set – a requirement that will undoubtedly increase the plan’s ability to process information and improve job precision,” said Sunny Singh, CEO of Edifecs. “As a strategic partner, Edifecs is prepared to help solve the complex business and efficiency challenges associated with the transition to ICD-10.”
The migration from the ICD-9 to ICD-10 code sets will likely be one of the most extensive conversion projects the health ecosystem will undertake. The vast majority of IT systems and many healthcare policies will be affected. Recently, the Department of Health and Human Services issued a formal proposed rule to delay the ICD-10 compliance deadline by one year. The new compliance deadline is slated for October 1, 2014.
